Defects

The defects tab is where the user can open, close and manage defects for the primary item. Pressing the Add Defect button will open a new window where the user can assign a description and priority.

The defect will then appear in the table of the Defects tab of the primary item.

Users can bulk edit the Open/Closed status of defects or change priorities by using the checkboxes on the lefthand side and clicking the edit drop down and selecting the appropriate option.

For detailed editing of a defect, click on the three dots in the green circle to the left of the defect, this will open a new Defects window.

Here the user can toggle the Open/Closed status of the defect, add a comment, enter information into one of two user defined fields, or look at the history of the defect to see what changes have been made and by who. User defined fields can be used to store any data that doesn’t fit into the predefined fields, they are commonly used to link defects to asset management/maintenance systems such as SAP or Maximo. Data contained in the comment field is not printed to the generated Inspection Work Pack (IWP).
NOTE: Some fields on this page cannot be edited directly by the user, marked by a grey textbox. The tag, site, area and description are all taken from the equipment details in the tag browser. The item number is an internal number correlating to questions on the inspection check sheets (ICS), Inspection will show the question from the ICS; however if entered in the additional defects field or on Ex-Online it will show up as User Item. Defect Details are populated from comments on the ICS or from the description entered on Ex-Online, once entered these details cannot be edited. The Result shows the inspection result of the relevant question from the ICS, this field will be either N or NC depending on the result and whether the ‘Ignore NC inspection results (do not create defects)’ setting is enabled.
