Filtering and Sorting

Every grid view in the Tag Browser supports column-level filtering and sorting. Filters control which rows are visible; sorting controls the order they appear in. Both can be used together and operate independently — applying a filter does not reset the sort, and sorting does not change which items pass the filter.

Most columns use text-based filter operators:

OperatorDescriptionInput Required
ContainsItems where the field contains the specified textYes
Does Not ContainItems where the field does NOT contain the specified textYes
Starts WithItems where the field starts with the specified textYes
Is EmptyItems where the field is emptyNo
Is Not EmptyItems where the field has a valueNo

The D (Defects) and A (Actions) columns on the Equipment tab use numeric filter operators with a numeric input field:

OperatorDescription
Is equal toItems where the value equals the specified number
Is not equal toItems where the value does not equal the specified number
Is greater thanItems where the value is greater than the specified number
Is greater than or equalItems where the value is greater than or equal to the specified number
Is less thanItems where the value is less than the specified number
Is less than or equalItems where the value is less than or equal to the specified number

The Show Selection filter (available in the Select menu or toolbar) restricts the view to items currently selected via checkboxes.

Columns that have an active filter display a green three-dot icon in the column header.

On the Project Dashboard, the Edit Column Settings icon next to each column header includes a Filter submenu. The submenu contains an operator dropdown, a value field, and Filter / Clear buttons. Text columns show a text input; numeric columns show a numeric spinner.

On the Accounts Page, each column has a dedicated Filter icon that opens the same filter controls directly.

The Filter Bar is a persistent strip at the top of the grid that displays all applied filters.

  • Active filters appear in full color

  • Inactive filters appear greyed out

Inactive filter tag

  • Clicking a filter tag toggles it between active and inactive
  • The X button on a filter tag removes it entirely

Equipment grid with one active and one inactive filter (The “description contains Motor” filter is active — only Motor items appear. The “D gte 1” filter is inactive — items with D = 0 are still shown.)

Multiple filters can be active at the same time. They combine with logical AND — an item must match every active filter to appear in the grid. The Show Selection filter participates in the same AND logic.

Equipment grid with both filters active (Both filters active — only items where Description contains “Motor” AND D >= 1 are shown. Items with D = 0 from the previous view are now hidden.)

Equipment grid sorted by Area column ascending (Equipment grid sorted by Area — the ascending arrow in the column header shows the sort direction)

Click any column header to sort the grid by that column. The first click sorts ascending (A–Z, 0–9, oldest–newest); clicking the same header again switches to descending. A small arrow indicator appears in the column header showing the current sort direction.

Clicking a different column header replaces the current sort — the grid re-sorts by the new column and the previous sort is removed.

To sort by multiple columns at once, hold Shift and click additional column headers after the first sort is applied. Each stacked column shows a numbered indicator (1, 2, 3…) reflecting its position in the sort order.

Equipment grid with stacked sort — Area (1) and Tag No (2) (Stacked sort — Area is the primary sort (1), Tag No is the secondary sort (2))

For example, sorting by Area first, then Shift-clicking Tag No., groups items by area and sorts alphabetically by tag number within each area.

The sort order follows the sequence in which columns were clicked:

PositionHow it’s setEffect
Primary (1)Click a column headerThe grid is sorted by this column first
Secondary (2)Shift-click a second column headerWithin groups of identical primary values, rows are sorted by this column
Tertiary (3+)Shift-click additional column headersFurther sub-sorting within matching secondary values

To change precedence, clear the current sort by clicking any column header without Shift (this resets to a single-column sort), then rebuild the stacked sort in the desired order.

Filtering and sorting are available on every grid view in the Tag Browser: Accounts Page, Equipment, Associated Equipment, Documents, Defects, and Actions.
